The
Eyelash Curler
A Must Have Eye Makeup Tool...
BUT WHICH ONE IS FOR YOU?
The eyelash curler is truly one impressive contraption. I can only imagine what the prototype was like
though, and the poor brave guinea pigs who tested them out in the name of beauty
(I am sure a few tears were shed over missing eyelashes).
These
days, there are quite a few variations in the mechanical design of
curling eyelashes and bring new meaning to the word
'contraption'.
I am
not about to tell you which design is best for you since it
really comes
down to your face shape, the length of lashes you were blessed with
and some experimenting with the designs available...I can give you a
little direction on things you should consider.
Don't
assume that all contraptions that look the same, work the
same. On a personal quest for a new design, and still not
completely sold on the pro favorite famous, award winning, pro
favorite etc. Shu Uemura Eyelash Curler, I set out to find the best
eyelash curler.
I
tried a couple of brands with the same Shu Uemura original metal tong style.
To my
annoyance both had scratchy unfinished metal posts and operated at
an odd angle to my
brow bone. I was left with an imprint and scratch.
In addition I am not a
fan of the new harder plastic 'sponge' and the no longer available
refill packs you could purchase separately. When you are done with the two allotted, you have to
buy another eyelash curler to get more refills???
My
sister swears by her little plastic, apparently 'user friendly', eyelash
curler. I found it a little awkward (a case of being unfamiliar
with the mechanism and how much pressure is needed to achieve the
desired curl) but reasonabley effective.
I have
since educated myself on the intricacy of design details involved in
the eye lash curler.
So
here we are, a survey of the latest and greatest eyelash curler
designs,
noting their special design features and a couple of tips for use.
Original
tong style and the top of the class, muliti award winner by Shu Uemura
;
"Perfectly measured and finely balanced, the new shu uemura
Eyelash Curler is designed to ensure superior functionality and
performance."
"The upgraded silicone pad in a new "mushroom"
shape provides a protective, stay-put edge for improved safety and
optimum curl."
"The new, patented hinge is specifically engineered to
apply the perfect amount of pressure on eyelashes."
"The calculated
shape, size of frame length and ergonomic handles ensure stability
and control, while the curved angle suits all eye shapes."
What else you need to know:
For optimal results, hygiene and safety, it is strongly recommended
that the Eyelash Curler be cleaned with each use. In addition, to
maintain its precision performance, the silicone pad should be
changed after 3 months of use (a replacement pad is included) and
the Eyelash Curler should be replaced altogether after 6 months.
Sephora
"Go Curl";
"This
tiny eyelash curler provides the perfect
curl to even the most stubborn lashes."
"The
unique, pinch-free, compact design
makes it a handy, go-anywhere tool
that you won't be able to live without."
"Includes
one replacement pad."
Vincent Longo
Mini Lash
Curler;
"With its perfectly petite design, the Vincent Longo Mini Lash Curler
lets you curl your lashes in smaller, more precise sections in order
to reach each lash at the proper distance from the
root. The result
is the most natural eye-opening curve."
Technique: Starting from the outer corner, gather a small section of
lashes and position the curler base close the roots and apply gentle
pressure and hold for 15 seconds per section, as you work your way
inwards along the lash line, finishing about 1/3 away from the inner
corner itself.
Sephora
Brand Professional Heated Lash Curler;
"What it is:
An innovative heated eyelash curler."
"What it does:
This can't-live-without lash innovation is perfect for curling
stubborn straight lashes anytime, anywhere."
"What else you need to know:
Simply turn on, wait 15 seconds, place the comb directly onto lash
line above lashes, gently lift and comb lashes into the desired
shape (as you would with a mascara brush), hold for one or two
seconds, then release. Repeat across lashline until the desired
effect is achieved."
Note:
Well, I don't think the heated eyelash curler is a 'foolproof' new
design...there are 63 reviews on this product at Sephora, and it
gets an average rating of 2.5 out of 5 possible stars....(that's a
lot of mediocre to poor reviews).
Eyelash
Curler BIG TIP - Famous celebrity
professional makeup artist Billy B says:
If there is one
thing you must do as a beauty staple, whether you wear a
little or a lot of makeup, use an eyelash curler...a good
eyelash curler will open the eyes, multiply the appearance
of the lashes, and bring great emphasis and freshness to the
eyes.¹
GREAT
TECHNIQUE For Rounder More Natural Curl:
Billy uses a technique that moves up the lash from the base with
the curler, and places curve in several places on the
lashes, not just one squeeze, creating a rounder more
natural looking curl to the lash.
One
more thing...With this eyelash curler technique or any, use great care and
focus.
