Makeup Style

A makeup style that will always work for you, regardless of fashion's beauty trends, is the fresh face;
CLEAN, FLAWLESS, FRESH, VIBRANT, NATURAL LOOKING...its all about the look of great skin.  This can be combined with the eye makeup style of your choosing BUT if you really want high impact skin, try pairing fresh skin with low key, pretty eye makeup.

Neutral shadow, brown/ black pencil tightly lining upper lash line, a couple of coats mascara, lightly lined or bare lower lash line, a touch of mascara on lower lashes, together can create low key, but high definition eye makeup.

"You, only better..." *Bobbi Brown said it perfectly.

*This is the short version of the general beauty philosophy of this very talented makeup artist who has her own prestige brand cosmetics empire, several books and a long list of famous clients.

Maybelline's famous tag line "Maybe she's born with it, maybe it's Maybelline..."  Also articulates this fresh beauty makeup style well.

In a nutshell, the key points to achieve makeup style:

GREAT GLOWING HEALTHY LOOKING SKIN

  • 1.  Well hydrated/ moisturized skin is a good start to any makeup style  (it improves application ease, blending ease and overall result).
  • 2.  Even out skin tone with tinted moisturizer or, as light as possible foundation with special attention to the eye area, blending well so its presence is seamless.  Concealer as needed, with particular attention to dark corners under eye, and eye lids.  LIGHT dust of translucent powder to cut shine on forehead, nose and chin PLUS provide good base for any eye color.
  • 3.  Well placed, well blended, transparent light veils of color work together to showcase your skin's natural appearance;
    -Concentrate blush color to apple area and blend out into larger cheek area till disappears into own skin tone ...for natural looking blush consider Benefit Benetint or Tarte Cheek Stain.
    -Bronzer needs a light and careful hand to place in where the sun would naturally hit your face; if using a powder bronzer (easiest method), take a large powder brush and sweep across the tops of your cheeks, a touch close to the end of your nose, a touch above the outer brows, a touch on the chin, and a TINY little bit under the chin...All to create a visual flow and a harmonious overall skin tone. (Note:  Summer is a little more forgiving with placement since you have likely picked up a little color from the sun OR you may be using a self tanning lotion in this time frame bringing a natural overall warmth to your skin...Hey,  by the way, nothing says you can't use a little self tanner still as it can provide a very outdoorsy look...Just don't over do it. )
    A couple of easy to use, "a little goes a long way' natural looking bronzers are Guerlain's Terracotta and Benefit's Hoola.

  • 5.  For the lips, consider sheer gloss or lipstick with a bit of tint.  Balance dramatic eyes with softer lips and vice versa, for minimalist eye makeup try deeper tints but still sheer lips. (Bobbi Brown, Clinique, Prescriptives all good resources).
